Charlotte (Custom Novi Stars Doll)

While waiting for more supplies to finish up a previous custom, I got twitchy and started fiddling with one of my girls' Novi Stars dolls. I bought them two of these for Christmas last year because I thought they were adorable. My kids apparently didn't think so, as I've only seen them play with them a handful of times. I decided they were too cute to go unloved.

The victim *ahem* I mean doll in question.

All done minus gloss and eyelashes.

She's a little smirky, which I love.

The colors are a bit more vibrant in person, as my cell phone photos tend to end up washed out. There are alot more details on her face as well, especially the bottom lashes. I'm planning orange glass eyes and a purple wig for her. The eyes were interesting, as the factory lashes were actually made onto the eyes themselves. I had to modify the head a little so the glass eyes can fit, as there was a little vinyl wall behind each eye to hold them in place. I cut it out so that her eyes could be inserted from the back of her head through a little flap I cut (will be covered up by a wig anyway so I didn't mind the flap).

I also sanded and blushed her body. We're not talking the full body blush - no nipples or anything anatomical were added. I just added a little blush to her chest, back, knees, and feet. It irked me that her head was matte with pink shading and her body was shiny and plasticy. Her arms are actually a rubber material so they'll be all bendy so I couldn't do anything with them. I did, however, find out they're also glow in the dark. Kinda freaked me out because I didn't notice still she was sitting up on the bookshelf when I cut the lights off to head to bed...

I popped her factory acrylic eyes back in so she wouldn't scare my kids and added a little hairbow for lack of hair. The clothes are random pieces I dug out of the toybox. She also has a pair of pink legwarmers on and some purple ankle boots I stole from the other Novi Stars doll - I somehow missed them when taking pictures.

I pretty much adore her. This custom has so far only taken me one day to complete. I much prefer customs that don't require painting eyes I've found out.
